What is an optical bypass switch?
The Optical Bypass Switch is capable of automatically bypassing faulty network nodes in the event of a power outage. It is used in optical fiber communications and fits ring or linear fiber network architectures.
It has two working mode:
- When the power is on, the optical bypass switch operates in the normal mode and forwards ethernet packets between the three switches
- When the power failure occurs, the optical bypass switch operates in the bypass mode the directly forwards ethernet packet between the two fiber switches and bypass the middle fiber switch.
